Twenty-five years ago, on May 22, 1988, the Boston Celtics and the Atlanta Hawks were pitted against one another in a series-deciding Game 7 of the NBA Eastern Conference Semifinals. The game was tied 86-86 with 10:26 to play in the fourth quarter when the teams’ respective stars, Boston’s Larry Bird and Atlanta’s Dominique Wilkins, took over the contest.
As time ticked off the clock in the final frame, Bird and Wilkins staged one of the most dramatic one-on-one shooting displays in NBA Playoff history.
